Yeah –  not all elopements are created equal. Nowadays elopements are less about being secretive, and more about being special and intimate. Maybe you’re just such a giving person, having the spotlight on you just isn’t appealing. Maybe traveling and visiting somewhere AMAZING is more important than making sure the tablecloths are the right shade of blush. Maybe being surrounded by 10, 15, or 50 of your closest friends or relatives sounds way more meaningful than 300 of your parent’s business associates (although they do give great gifts…).

I don’t want to sound like I don’t love the big elaborate weddings – but a big wedding isn’t the only type of wedding, and I happen to really respect and love couples who choose the more intimate route. And today that’s what elopements are starting to mean. Less than 100 guests. A shorter day, with a bigger emphasis on intimacy than size.
