Hilton Head is about an hour from Savannah and sits in the sweet spot between beach resort and Lowcountry elegance. The live oaks, the creeks, the Spanish moss, the harbor — it's a different feel from Tybee, more polished, and it photographs beautifully across every season.
Bud has photographed at Sea Pines, Harbour Town, Palmetto Dunes, the Westin, Belfair Plantation, and various private properties on the island. If you're planning a Hilton Head wedding, reach out early — this is one of the most booked markets in the Southeast.
Sea Pines is the premier venue destination on Hilton Head — the Harbour Town lighthouse, the Beach Club, the Heritage Golf Course. Sea Pines photography permits are required and managed through their events team. Plan early and confirm vendor access through your wedding planner.
Palmetto Dunes is a large resort community with multiple ceremony and reception options — the beach, the lagoon system, the Marriott and Hyatt properties. Shelter Cove Harbour is a popular ceremony backdrop with sunset views over the marina. Bud has photographed both extensively.
Belfair is technically in Bluffton, SC, about 15 minutes from the Hilton Head bridge. It's a private, gated golf community with a beautiful clubhouse and grounds. Check out the Belfair Clubhouse wedding post for a full gallery from Alexandra and Patrick's day.
Hilton Head beach weddings require permits through the Town of Hilton Head Island. Most beach wedding coordinators handle this, but confirm early. Golden hour sessions on the Lowcountry side of the island (Calibogue Sound) give you a western-facing sunset instead of the ocean sunrise — plan accordingly.
